Cembrit Westerland fibre cement slate provides the perfect finish

Cembrit Westerland fibre cement slate provides the perfect finish to an award-winning retirement village in Northamptonshire. Built by Castleoak, one of the UK’s leading care home design and construction companies, Richmond village is roofed with Westerland slates across the whole development.

Located at Grange Park, Northamptonshire, the development is a luxury retirement village comprising 51 one and two-bedroom apartments, 42 care suites and communal facilities including a restaurant, hairdressing salon, lounges, shop, café, arts and craft room, library and IT room. Built in an appealing “New England” style the coloured weatherboarding is complemented by the natural looking Westerland slate. The local authority approved the use of Westerland as it’s graphite colour and textured surface give the roofs a matt appearance. Nearly 50,00 slates were installed by Walthamstow based Court Roofing.

Westerland’s natural appearance is further enhanced by its random dressed edge which also contributes to its natural appearance. The combination of traditional finish with modern production gives a consistent thickness. No grading and sorting is required as it is with natural slate, but the roof slope looks more authentic than thicker concrete tiles.
