Joints

Framtidens Förskola Sandslottet SISAB - Sköndal, Sweden

Joint types can be selected as a purposeful design element. Joints shape the appearance of a building as a characteristic feature of non load-bearing, ventilated facades.

Joint patterns can be chosen to accentuate a facade and the shape and perceived proportions of the building. Joints can be arranged vertically or horizontally in parallel, or offset. In this way, they shape the appearance of any building, giving it design features like vitality, dominance, strictness, or functionality.

Joints are used to ensure air pressure balancing and circulation in the facade space, depending on building and facade requirements.

Edge features

The edges of the facade panels can play a key role in shaping the visual appearance and quality of the final result. Overlapping edges can be used to create a weatherboard appearance forming a dramatically different façade from a large format cladding board and can be distinctive in the building’s overall character.

Cembrit’s production technology includes modern cutting equipment, which we have developed from furniture industry technology. With our equipment, we can cut panels to size whilst polishing and sanding the edges at the same time. This provides a perfect and even finish, ensuring the facade looks good from every angle while ensuring long-term durability.

Cembrit is the only manufacturer of fibre cement panels with the technology to automatically seal edges during cutting. The automatic process also ensures even quality.
