Non load-bearing and ventilated
The design principle behind ventilated facades is to compensate for temperature fluctuations between the outside and the interior living space throughout the year. Rainscreen cladding reflects sunlight in the summer, while protecting the dry insulation from precipitation and heat loss during the winter. At the same time, the facade dissipates moisture from inside the building maintaining equilibrium for the inhabitants.
Decorative cladding panels can be installed in any weather, and structural tolerances can easily be compensated for with the aluminium brackets and rails of the external sub-structure onto which rainscreen claddings are typically fixed- just a few more benefits of rainscreen cladding over non-ventilated facade systems.

Thanks to our Scandinavian origins, Cembrit has always trusted in the principles behind rainscreen claddings. They are one of the safest facade systems available, guaranteeing long-term protection against weather, mould, moisture and masonry cracks with a very low susceptibility to damages.
Taking outside opinions to heart
In its service life judgement, the British Board of Agrément rates Cembrit, limited combustibility, fibre cement cladding as a component with a service life, in excess of 30 years.

Our facade products are certified in accordance with international environmental standard ISO 14025 and EN 15804, and have an EPD-CEM-2013411 environmental declaration.
This allows Cembrit to ensure that all environmental impacts of the material are disclosed across the entire product life cycle, from raw material recovery to recycling. In the event of damage, Cembrit cladding panels can be removed and replaced and fully recycled.
