Cembonit panels from Cembrit have been installed at Matter Nightclub, part of the 02 Arena development. Installed in the ticket foyer, as well as adding valuable sound-proofing, the grey and green ‘through colour’ panels also provide an attractive contrast to the exposed concrete interior.
Layered over three levels, Matter is a 3400m² purpose-built industrial looking club night club designed by Pentagram. Situated inside Greenwich’s O2 building, the club has a 2600 capacity with a dramatic triple-height void over the main 100m² dance floor. The raw concrete interior is the ideal blank canvas to show off unique 3D projections and coloured LED lighting. The exceptions to the grey interior, is the ceramic tiled toilet block, and the ticket foyer, which is clad in the contrasting grey and green Cembonit panels.
Cembrit supplied the panels to FGF of Leeds and they were installed by Beasley Joiners, also of Leeds. Cembonit panels are ‘through coloured’ and during the production process receive a unique impregnation treatment which protects the colour throughout the sheet. The sheets are characterized by their subtle, matt finish, and the impregnation process effectively protects against staining and dirt, ensuring that the facade retains its attractive appearance – an important feature in a busy night club.
Cembonit cladding is designed for internal lining applications, external cladding, both exposed and semi-exposed. It is produced from cement, sand, cellulose, wollastonite and sodium silicate and are impregnated with an aqueous, hydrophobic liquid, which provides the sheets with the water and dirt repellent surface. It is strong, durable and lightweight product and is an attractive, cost-effective and maintenance-free Class 0 cladding panel, ideal for a variety of decorative cladding applications. |
