CEMBRIT OFFERS THE LOCAL TOUCH IN WALES

The 100 by 65 foot workshop with slate blue Cemsix corrugated sheet for the roof and terracotta Cemsix for the walls.
Release Date: 11 Nov 2007

A & M Engineering selected slate blue Cemsix corrugated sheet for the roof and terracotta Cemsix for the walls of the 100 by 65 foot workshop to meet the brief of matching the corporate colours without being outlandish. What started out as a square box was re-designed by Mark Atherton of A&M Engineering and has become a spacious building with a lean-to style office and trade counter mezzanine. The innovative design allows the rear wall to be removed for future extensions. The design went through a careful planning process to ensure the building will still look contemporary in 50 years time. A combination of the building plans and use of high quality materials, including Cemsix, ensured consent was granted and the project was completed in May 2007.

“Cemsix compares equally with the best in the market and is preferable to Italian sheets which are heavy and difficult to handle. We were delighted that there were no rejects or breakages in all the roofing sheets we used” says Peter Richards of contractors Presilli Fabrications.

Mark Atherton of A & M Engineering continues “We experienced very good service from Cembrit throughout the project and it was useful to have the local availability from the South Wales Depot. With Cembrit you deal direct with the manufacturing company’s UK operation which helps keep things simple.”

Cemsix is durable, weatherproof and will not rot or decay. It is not affected by destructive fungi, vermin or insects and requires no maintenance to preserve its strength and other properties. It is available in natural grey or pre-coloured in slate blue, terracotta, dark brown, anthracite or olive green. Cemsix is a traditional 6 inch UK corrugated sheet profile and has been tested for fragility in accordance with ACR (M) 001:2000 Test for Fragile Roof Assemblies (to Class C classification). It also passes the necessary fire regulations in accordance with BS 476-3: 1958 achieving an EXT.S.AA designation. In addition it meets the requirements for external spread of flame, has a Class 0 surface, conforms to BS EN 494:1994 Class C1X and has a full BBA certification: 03/4049.
